Everyone can become an altruist to help society. But this shouldn't become fanaticism. Taking a foster kid is a manifestation of altruism. But we cannot say that a person who hasn't adopted a single child isn't an altruist since he has helped people in other ways. However, I agree that the fact that we adopted a girl from an orphanage makes us more effective altruists. We want to help those who need it. We are happy we found her through a foster agency. When our sweetheart grows out of her old clothes, we give them to the orphanage. And every year we give them money for Christmas. We continue to help kids in need cause we can do it.
