i'm just getting into EA (taking the intro course) and we've been having discussions around tradeoffs and decision-making. after our weekly meet i hopped on to catch up with the most recent ep of jujutsu kaisen and thought 'wait a minute... what would happen if they applied EA concepts to the humans they're saving instead of just saving anyone and everyone in the vicinity?'

we touched on QALYs this week and how people are quantifying between different causes in order to choose the most effective one. one question brought up to us if we thought we would be able to utilize these methodologies in real life. if i put myself in the scenario of jjk, would i be able to prioritize the many over the few (or even the many over my comrade) on the battlefield?

also considering characters in comparison to one another of who would be most aligned to EA concepts. maybe nanami is an example of someone who's putting in a lot of effort for not the best outcomes? and then megumi would be the picture of what not to do under EA terms since he saves lives based on his own affections?

probably not the most effective thought to go down the rabbit hole for but im calling it practice for applying ideas learned here into my current life 😂 (im all caught up on the show and read ahead a bit in the manga btw)
